Hapag-Lloyd Rotterdam – HR Business Partner

About the role
Are you an HR Business Partner who likes to roll up the sleeves and get things done? At Hapag-Lloyd, we are looking for an HR Business Partner to join our HR-team! In this role, you will play a key role in driving our people strategy and supporting our business goals. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, performance management, talent development, and organizational change. In addition, you can easily switch your communication style depending on the levels within the organization. Please note: for this position you must possess excellent Dutch communication skills.
In this position, you will partner closely with local teams across various departments. These departments include “Operations”, “Business Administration”, the empty depot, and several satellite positions reporting to the Headquarters in Germany, while also maintaining flexibility to support other departments as needed. In addition to the local offices, you will also work closely with HR Region North Europe where you will be part of an international HR community.
The HR-team is responsible for all HR-matters in Area Benelux and consists of:
- 1 HR Manager;
- 2 HR Specialists;
- 2 HR Business Partners (including you).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fully responsible for the recruitment cycle;
- Onboarding, offboarding, crossboarding;
- Initiate performance management initiatives, like Talent Development talks and Performance Improvement Plans;
- Drive and support organizational change initiatives;
- Analyze HR-data and provide insights to support decision-making;
- Be the main point of contact for Directors and (senior) managers and advise them on different HR-topics like development or absenteeism;
- Create and give HR-related trainings, presentations and workshops;
- Absenteeism counselling and reintegration of employees (Wet Verbetering Poortwachter);
- Initiate, support and follow-up on legal cases and employment law (contact with the lawyer, integrity cases, settlement agreements, mediation);
- Participate in different initiatives and local / global projects related to HR (diversity, sustainability, systems, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in human resources, psychology, business administration, economics, social sciences, employment law or a related field;
- Knowledge and affinity within the container, terminal or logistics industry;
- 3-5 years of experience in an (generalist) HR role or HR business Partner;
- Proactive, hands-on and results-oriented attitude: you independently tackle issues, complete them, and propose improvements.
- Being able to work in both an operational and corporate environment;
- The ability to communicate effectively on all levels within an organization;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Experience in a dynamic, international environment is a plus;
- Experience with HR systems (like Oracle) is a plus;
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch (hard requirement);
- You possess own transport, as you sometimes have to travel to the different locations (the office in Antwerp and the depot).
