Reports to: Benelux Logistics Manager

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Intermodal Supervisor to oversee and coordinate all intermodal transportation activities within the Benelux region. This role ensures seamless movement of containers across terminals, rail, barge, feeder, and trucking partners. The successful candidate will work closely with our European head office, local port terminals, feeder partners, 3PL providers, and internal planning teams to maintain high service standards and operational efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise daily intermodal operations (rail, barge, trucking and feeder) within the Benelux region.
  • Monitor container flows, job orders, and milestones, ensuring timely updates in internal systems.
  • Collaborate with terminals, feeder operators, rail/barging partners, and HMM offices to secure space and resolve disruptions.
  • Manage idling and other recoverable cost items.
  • Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, KPI targets, and service expectations.
  • Support planning teams with escalations related to omissions, congestion, or customs delays.
  • Coordinate with Finance/AP regarding invoice clarifications and cost validations.
  • Contribute to process optimization and system improvements.
  • Provide team-level leadership and operational guidance to (junior) planners during peak workload periods.
  • Annually assist in rate negotiations, and inherent non-conformity measurement and monitoring
  • Prepare periodic management reports and participate in operational reviews.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–3 years of experience in intermodal logistics, feeder operations, port operations, or container planning (liner shipping preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Benelux rail, barge, and trucking infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple offices and time zones.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and resolve issues under operational pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel in particular); experience with transport management or carrier/shipping systems is a plus.
  • Fluency in English, Dutch is preferred, German/French is advantageous.
