Are you ready to play a key role in optimizing vessel operations across Europe?
At HMM, one of the world’s leading container shipping companies, we are looking for a sharp and driven Vessel Planner to join our Regional Operations Center (ROC) in Rotterdam.
Working closely with our European Headquarters in London, you will be at the heart of operational excellence—ensuring vessels are planned efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.

In this role, you will be at the operational core of our European network, making real-time decisions that matter.
As a Vessel Planner, you are the link between terminals, vessels, and international stakeholders. You translate complex operational data into optimal stowage and sailing performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating and executing vessel load and stowage plans
- Optimizing vessel utilization and terminal productivity (minimizing re-stows)
- Coordinating closely with terminals, vessel command, and internal departments
- Managing EDI data flows (BAPLIE, load/discharge files)
- Planning special cargo such as Reefers, OOG, Break Bulk, and DG
- Monitoring live operations and resolving planning or stowage issues in real-time
- Aligning berthing windows and terminal operations
- Ensuring compliance with stability and safety requirements

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
- Solid understanding of the container shipping industry
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to perform under pressure
- Flexible attitude, including availability outside office hours when needed
- Experience or knowledge of stowage planning systems (e.g. CASP) is a strong advantage
- Good command of English / Dutch is plus (spoken and written)
- Comfortable working with Excel and operational data
- A true team player with a proactive and solution-driven attitude
