CMA CGM Holland – Customer Service Officer Customs

As part of its growth and development, CMA CGM Holland is looking for a Customer Service Officer to join its Customs team, in the Customer Care department.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Customer Service Officer Customs’ mission typically involves facilitating smooth interactions between customs authorities and individuals/businesses. Their main role is ensuring compliance with customs regulations, providing assistance and guidance to customers regarding import / export / transshipment procedures, as well as addressing any inquiries or issues related to customs matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, tariffs, and documentation requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding customs-related inquiries.
  • Prepare and review customs documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Stay abreast of changes in customs regulations and ensure adherence to legal requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize customs clearance processes.
  • Implement efficient workflows to expedite customs procedures while maintaining accuracy.
  • Collaborate with logistics, operations, and sales teams to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to customs clearance.
  • Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on customs-related matters.
  • Collaborate with customs authorities to address and resolve any clearance-related issues.
  • Proactively communicate with clients to address queries and provide updates on customs status.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of customs-related documentation.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Fluency in Dutch and English language, both written and spoken.
  • Relevant certifications or training in customs regulations and compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and procedures, particularly in the relevant geographical areas.
  • Experience with customs clearance processes for import and export shipments.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret and apply complex customs regulations.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers, customs authorities, and internal teams.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
